Conference Information

this year’s conference will be hosted by the Department of Applied Social Sciences in the Technological University of the Shannon’s Moylish campus in Limerick city, V94 EC5T.  The response to this year’s call for papers was enormous, which is great news and we have a packed programme for the 2 days of May 13th and 14th. These big numbers also means it will be a busy weekend in Limerick and we would also encourage you to register for the conference immediately and book your accommodation as soon as possible. You can do this at the following link: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/sai-annual-conference-tickets-277621622747.

Registration
We would strongly encourage those who have not yet done so to complete the registration process now.
Attendees should purchase the ticket that applies to their category. Only SAI Members are eligible to purchase tickets listed as for SAI Members. If you wish to join the SAI, you can do so at this link: https://www.sociology.ie. Full Membership is €55 and Postgraduate / Low Waged Membership is €25. Only TUS staff and students are eligible to purchase the TUS Staff and Student Ticket. We will have a registration desk at the conference to welcome you to the conference, check registration, and give you your packs.
The conference runs on a ‘not-for -profit’ basis, but there is obviously significant cost involved. The difference in registration price is to offer a benefit to members and offer recognition of their participation in and support of the Association, to encourage and facilitate participation for early-career and precarious academics/researchers, and to reciprocate the hospitality of TUS in providing us with a venue.

Conference Dinner
The conference dinner had fallen off the schedule in recent years, but this year it is back and will be held in Thomond Park, the home of Munster Rugby, close by TUS Moylish campus. As the SAI members have not had a chance to meet in so long, we felt it was important to give people a space to socialise and to break bread together. We looked far and wide for an appropriate venue with keeping costs as affordable as possible for all members a priority. The fee is €32 for the meal that will be served there. We are limited to 60 places for the booking, so please purchase a ticket early alongside your ticket if you wish to go, as we anticipate high demand.

Accommodation
We encourage you to book accommodation at your earliest convenience, as we anticipate high demand in Limerick City for this weekend. We have negotiated special rates at several places which you can take advantage of, but you should act quickly.
